Dr. L.S Shashidhara, Ph.D.

Prof. L S Shashidhara is specialises in Genetics, Molecular Biology and Evolutionary biology. His group has identified key mechanisms that specify organ development and regulate growth control in Drosophila. They have also expanded their study to examine the status of these evolutionarily conserved mechanisms in epithelial cancers in human.

He is distinguished Professor at Ashoka University. He is currently on lien from IISER Pune. Prof Shashidhara did his undergraduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, India and holds Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, UK. He started his independent research career at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad as a Scientist and Group Leader, where he built a strong developmental biology group. Following that, he moved to IISER Pune and contributed to its growth since its inception.

For his contribution to basic and applied biology, Prof Shashidhara received several awards and accolades, which includes CSIR Technology and SS Bhatnagar Prizes and JC Bose National Research Fellowship. He is a Fellow of Indian National Science Academy; National Academy of Sciences, India; and Indian Academy of Sciences. In 2018, Prof Shashidhara was elected as Associate member of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), an international recognition for excellence in research in life sciences.

He has represented India in several delegations and international platforms. He is steering an international project on Climate Change Education. Recently, he was invited to speak about Climate Change Education at the High Level Political Forum 2019 (HLPF 2019) at United Nations.

Dr Mrutyunjay Suar

Dr Mrutyunjay Suar  is the Director General of R&D at KIIT University and the CEO of KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI). An entrepreneurial professor with PhD in Molecular Microbiology from University of Delhi in the year 2003 and trained as postdoc at ETH Zurich, Switzerland (Feb 2004-June 2007). He returned to India and established the School of Biotechnology in 2007 under KIIT University which became a Centre of excellence awarded by DBT, GoI.

He also established KIIT-TBI, promoting deep tech start-up companies. Under his leadership, KIIT-TBI nurtured more than 260 start-up companies in last 10 years and created 4500+ jobs and established Centre of Excellence in incubation in the area of Digital Health, Diagnostics & Precision agriculture, supported by Department of Sc & Tech, Govt of India. He is a passionate mentor and has been deeply involved mentoring deep-tech startup companies and helped them to take them through their journey from ideation to enterprise creation.

Received several recognitions including Samanta Chandrasekhar Award-2019 from Odisha Bigyan Academy, American Society of Microbiology (ASM) Professorship award in 2012 and visited UCLA, USA, GP Chatterjee memorial award during 102nd Indian Science Congress, Future young technical leaders by STARS Switzerland in 2010. He also attended Global Entrepreneurship leadership Symposium at HAAS Business School, USA and visited UC Berkley

Mr Lalith Kishore

Experienced Business Leader in Drug Discovery Sciences, Genomic Sciences, Protein Sciences and Cell Technologies. Six years of experience with a Contract Research Organization ( BioServe) in the USA. 18 years industry experience in GE Healthcare Lifesciences with leadership roles in Applications, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, management/ Leadership roles : Research Product business for South Asia. President, CEO with P&L, BD and M&A responsibility with Reprocell, South Asia.

Large projects handled include, the Indian Rice Genome Project, India’s first Clinical Proteomics Project, multiple bio-similarity projects with biopharma companies, CCAMP-InDx Project under Atmanirbhar Bharat for Indigenisation of Diagnostics in India.

Supported multiple large customer R&D programs, introduction of the first ever In India-For India products from GE Healthcare Lifesciences, involved in the set-up of Fast Track, a consultancy and training division at GE Lifesciences
